In this session we were given our first piece of coursework. We have to record some footage ourselves and use it to make a short film, of whatever topic we choose. We then have to edit it appropriately, adding music etc.
For my short film I’ve decided to interview students around campus, asking them about student life. Things like:
– What do they think of student life.
– Has it met expectations.
– How could it be improved.
– What is their accommodation like.
I’m looking forward to this because it’s my first proper chance to be creative in the course and to use the software properly. Choosing appropriate transitions and music will be something I need to think about though.
Just looking at the page today and they’ve started doing tutorials for Adobe Premiere.
Last seminar we were introduced to a new piece of software, Adobe Premier. We used this to do some basic video editing on an episode of the Three Stooges. This included cutting out clips from the video to make it shorter and adding screen wipes to make the end result look more streamlined.
I was amazed by how easy it was to manipulate video footage, although I did find some of the tools a bit clunky and awkward to use. I’m under the impression I’ll get used to the software pretty quickly though, by practicing and watching tutorial videos.
Just thought it would be nice to plug one of the more useful things I’ve found for learning how to program in certain languages and use certain software. http://www.youtube.com/user/thenewboston they seem to know what they’re talking about and have helped me out a lot. Worth a look.
Last seminar we were introduced to a piece of software we will be using throughout the course to create our own music tracks, using samples and the use of a midi keyboard. While I did enjoy the chance to be creative I did find myself being a bit confused by how to use the software properly, though I’m sure after some practice and messing around with it I’ll get my head around it.
